Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Alive is an iOS self-motivation application developed and operated by Ramesh ("we", "us", "our"). Our contact email is rameshnair.dev@gmail.com.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Alive does not collect, store, or transmit:

• Your name, email address, or any account credentials
• Location data
• Health or fitness data
• Contacts or calendar information
• Device advertising identifiers
• Crash logs or analytics (beyond Apple's opt-in system diagnostics)

We do not use any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or tracking libraries.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

All app data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and UserDefaults. This includes:

• Quotes: Your saved quotes and the quote displayed each day
• Good Todo tasks: Which task you accepted, its status, and completion date
• Achievements: Your total points and unlocked badges
• App preferences: Whether daily notifications are enabled and your onboarding status

This data is local only. It is not transmitted to our servers or any third party. If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed.

4. Third-Party Services

Alive makes limited, privacy-respecting use of two external services:

4a. ZenQuotes API (zenquotes.io)

On first launch, Alive fetches a collection of motivational quotes from the ZenQuotes API. This request includes no personal information — only a standard HTTP request from your device. After the initial fetch, quotes are cached locally and the API is not called on subsequent launches. Please review ZenQuotes' Terms of Service for their data handling practices.

4b. Pixabay Audio (pixabay.com)

The Sounds feature streams ambient audio tracks from Pixabay's CDN. When you play a track, your device makes a direct HTTP request to Pixabay's servers to stream the audio file. No personal data is sent as part of this request beyond your IP address (which is inherent to any internet request). Audio is not downloaded or stored on your device. Please review Pixabay's Privacy Policy for their data handling practices.

5. Notifications

Alive may request permission to send you local push notifications for daily quote reminders. These notifications are generated entirely on-device by iOS — no data is sent to our servers. You can revoke notification permission at any time via iOS Settings > Notifications > Alive.

6. iCloud & Backups

Alive does not use iCloud sync. However, if you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, Apple may include locally stored app data in your device backup. This is governed by Apple's iCloud Terms and Privacy Policy, not ours.

7. Children's Privacy

Alive is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Your Rights
